This week is is certainly a HOT one with temps over a 100 degrees. Yikes!
Sunday my husband and I ran in the Bay Area and got in a 7 miler. This particular route is something we have done numerous times but Sunday's run was HARD. My body just wasn't into it. I had to have my husband keep telling me that I could do it and to not stop. After our run, I got some very intense and painful cramps originating in my sore hip and radiating down my leg. I got 4 or 5 within a couple of minutes and the pain was such that I thought my leg was going to collapse. I have never had this before and thankfully, after a couple of minutes, they stopped and haven't returned. Monday was a rest day. Tuesday I thought about heading out for an evening run with some friends. But, since it was 102 degrees at 6pm, we decided to forgo the run. That was probably the best because it gave my body an extra day to rest. Yesterday, I hopped on the treadmill and got in a 4.86 mile run. I took it really really easy and set the treadmill at a 10:18 minute mile pace (instead of a 9 minute mile pace). The treadmill faces a wall of windows and I could see a couple of runners running along outside. I felt somewhat bad for them since I was running inside with air conditioning and they were sweating it out with the 100+ degree heat. I was really concerned with one guy who kept doubling over and looking like he was going to hurl. I wanted to jump off my treadmill, throw some water on him, and convince him to take a break. Thankfully, he must have heard my silent urging and did stop. Note to people: some days, it is just too hot to run full speed outside!!!
After my run, I went out for a walk and posted some more signs about the ring I found. Hopefully the rightful owner contacts me!
So, today is Thursday and I have not decided what my workout will be. Perhaps the stairmaster? Perhaps a short run? Perhaps just a walk depending on my hip and knee? Perhaps some strength training? I am not sure. But I do know that it will be something inside and not outside in the 102 degree heat!!!
Countdown to 1,000 Miles

whatever you do, do not push 99 minutes okay?
BUT...I do vote stairmaster, definetly a good workout!
Hah! No 99 minutes on the stairmaster until after I go to the Doc on Monday to figure out my hip and knee pain. I unfortunately might be put on the "injured list." But when I am better, I will totally see if I can do 99 minutes of stairmaster fun!!!
Ugh! I know how your feel :( I hate the heat AND waking up early, so its hard to pick which one. I've never tried the stairmaster, but supposedly its a hardcore calorie burner.
