| 2. | the ability or strength to continue or last, esp. despite fatigue, stress, or other adverse conditions; stamina: He has amazing physical endurance. |
| 3. | lasting quality; duration: His friendships have little endurance. |
| 4. | something endured, as a hardship; trial. |
I have always considered myself an endurance runner. I am not a sprinter. I am not a fast runner. But, I can endure long miles. For me, training for a marathon is all about endurance....enduring the multiple months of training and long runs, enduring the pain that comes along with running injuries, enduring little sleep and early Saturday morning wake up calls. And, hopefully, having the endurance to complete my long runs. However, I will say that being sick pretty much the entire month of October has resulted in the dreaded endurance eradicating monster. My ability to run long distances is gone! I get tired so quickly. My legs feel like lead. My stamina evaporates. And when this happens, like during my 10 mile run on Saturday that turned into a 6.5 mile run, I get sad and frustrated. Darn the flu! Way back when (otherwise known as September), I had stamina and endurance. With only three weeks until M Day (aka "Marathon Day"), I hope to slay the monster and regain a bit of my endurance. After all, fuel gels will only get me so far during my 26.2 mile quest.

It's amazing how fast we lose endurance. I took a week off in August when I had my wisdom teeth removed, and the next time I ran, I was surprised at how much I had lost, just w/in a week.
Keep at it. You'll be back in no time.
Good luck, I had the flu and felt tired for a long time too. Just keep at it and you should feel better soon.
I just commented on another sick blogger's page that it seems everyone is sick and has upcoming races. I'm beginning to think that racing in the fall is not a good thing. I hope you feel better soon. You'll get your endurance back quickly. I did when I was off for months due to an injury. Take care!
Oh no - sorry you have been sick!
Don't feel guilty about taking time off though/going slower/less miles when you are sick - it will help you heal so you can get back out there sooner.
Feel better soon!
Sorry you weren't feeling well. Hope you are up and at it 100% soon. It takes time. But, it will come back.
i hate how fast endurance slips away! hope you are feeling 100% better - game on for race day!!
Stay positive! You'll recover and rock the marathon!
Good luck with your race, I'm sure some of the adrenaline will help you on the day and the 3 weeks between now and then may make a big difference to your recovery from illness.
Don't forget that as well as endurance determination plays a bit part on race day and you seem to have a lot of that. You'll do great I'm sure.
I'm a bit of an on/off runner and am doing a marathon in April next year and find your blog really inspiring to me when I think about how much fitter I need to get before then and can I really do this. So thanks for the inspiration. Looking forward to reading all about your marathon.
sorry that was supposed to say determination plays a BIG part not bit!
