How is everyone feeling today? I hope it is a Happy Monday!!! After all, only three more days until Christmas celebrations start for me!! Woohoo!!! I am happy to report that I am finally getting into the holiday season and spirit. Perhaps it has something to do with finally not traveling and being gone every weekend since Thanksgiving. Or perhaps since I finally had the time and the energy to put up the tree on Friday night. Or that I can now officially say that ALL of my Christmas shopping and holiday baking is done. Or that I am focusing on the religious aspects of the holiday season and advent instead of the materialistic aspects. Whatever the reason, I am finally feeling excited and happy about the season!
On the eating front, things are going really, really well. I baked about 2 dozen loaves of chocolate chip pumpkin bread, 9 dozen sugar cookies, 6 dozen white chocolate chip cranberry pecan cookies, 4 dozen hand dipped chocolate pretzels, tons of chocolate toffee bark, and only ate 1/3 of a sugar cookie in order to test if my buttercream icing tasted right (I make it by taste rather than recipe). Yes, you read that right.....I made all of those yummy desserts and baked goods and didn't eat or try any of them besides the 1/3 of a sugar cookie. Success!!!! I am trying really hard to watch what I eat this holiday season in order to feel good about myself, to start 2010 off right, and to get back to healthy living, rather than indulging in everything that looks or tastes good.
On the running front, my knee/IT Band is still injured. I am "technically" already training for my next race (I know, crazy right? Already training for the next one??!!)....a half marathon in early Feb. However, I am taking it super easy so my hip/quad/knee can heal. I am tired of being in pain. Lesson for 2010...listen to your body! Don't overtrain and don't push your body too hard. Injuries are not fun and the recovery time is brutal.
Countdown to 1,000 Miles
I am aiming to run 1,000 miles again this year. So far, I have run:
212.51 miles (as of March 19, 2010)!
212.51 miles (as of March 19, 2010)!

That is some SERIOUS baking lady WOWZERS!! And to skip on the treats, you are stronger than me. I am planning to start my no sweats diet when Marathon training starts January 9th. In the mean time it is a free for all.. LOL!!
I hope your ITB feels better for your next race! I am planning many months of short mileage in 2011 to help my legs. Love how much baking you are doing.
Wow! How did you make all of that and not eat it? I have NO willpower! Good job ... sounds like your weekends have been like mine. I finally put up the Christmas lights yesterday. Take it easy on that injury ... it will help you recover much faster!
OMG that's a lot of baking. And you have some serious will power. Good job! I always have to sample the cookie dough and after they have baked lol. I've been doing well with no sweets too, telling myself that the gratification I'll get from eating the sweets will not last as long as the regret I'll have afterwards.
Mondays are easier to handle when you only have a 3 day work week ahead of you! Happy Holidays!
traveling definitely makes it tough - i agree!
if that was me... the next sentence would've been "and i ate each one" haha. :) nice self-control!!
